Peace on Earth Begins with Birth
Peace on Earth Begins with Birth
Families that choose Midwives choose to have one of the most sacred events in their life to be attended by a person who puts the family 1st.
As a midwife, my philosophy of care is client led. But here are some examples of the midwifery model of care
PRENATAL CARE
Hour or longer appointments
In depth nutritional counseling
In depth conversations and counseling about procedures and tests
An open ear to questions, concerns and fears
Family appointments (bring you other children, partner etc...)
Alternative healing modalities for traditional pregnancy related complaints
Childbirth preparation
Relaxed and friendly environment
24/7 phone availability
THE BIRTH
In home support...no decision making about the right time to go to the hospital or birth center
Respect and nurturing for the laboring mother
Non invasive setup and monitoring of the baby and mother for the birth
Inclusion of surrounding family members (dads, siblings, grandmothers...who wants to catch the baby?)
CHOICES....this is the cornerstone of midwifery care, it is client led and family is involved in creating the ideal setting for the laboring mother
Choice of when, where and how to birth...standing, squatting, kneeling, hands and knees, supine, in the water, out of the water etc...
Delayed cord clamping and respect for bonding
Safety-of utmost importance! See more on the research that supports homebirth for low risk women. Learn more on my rigorous midwifery training.
POSTPARTUM CARE
In home care for the 1st 2 weeks...we come to you and you enjoy your baby moon.
Breast feeding support
Alternative healing modalities for traditional postpartum complaints
Support of the emotional aspects of postpartum
24/7 phone availability
